This successful family-run company is based in Bristol and has been trading for twenty years. James Collett – the founder of Chauncey's – has just completed an MA in International Development. He contacted Temwa after finishing his Masters because he was interested in Temwa's approach to sustainable development.
Chauncey's have very kindly donated a considerable amount to go towards our 'Trees for Life' project. 'Trees for Life' is an urgent campaign that tackles the issue of deforestation which is devastating rural communities in Malawi. Every year, over 120,000 hectares of forest are lost to logging, industry and farming. Sadly, this is mostly due to people being unaware of how important the trees are. We urgently need to plant 250,000 trees in this area by the end of November 2011, which is the start of the rainy season in Malawi. We also have to expand our efforts to educate the community about the importance and management of trees. Chauncey's are also giving Temwa on-going monthly financial support, specifically for this project. So we would like to offer our thanks to Chauncey's and look forward to working with them in the future.
