The grant will be implemented into projects targeting different groups at real risk of contracting the HIV virus or already living with it including our Integrated Youth, Sexual Reproductive Health and AIDS project and our AIDS Action Clubs in schools. By empowering the area’s youth with the knowledge required to make informed decisions concerning their sexual and reproductive health, we aim to reduce the spread of this devastating disease. We will also implement a mobile voluntary counseling and training (MCVT) and Mobile Video Shows projects in order to ensure that communities are being regularly tested, to raise awareness and reduce stigma and to provide follow up services and support for those that test positive in the Nkhata Bay North area. Support will include linking those found positive with support groups and home-based care initiatives as well as indentifying potential beneficiaries of income-generating projects for people living with HIV & AIDS, something which will benefit the entire community. Huge thanks to the National AIDS Commission Malawi for this tremendous support!
