Thursday, 16 July 2009 10:50

Nkhutu_opening_thumbAfter many months of steady work by contractors, Temwa volunteers and many members of the local community, the construction of the CVS-funded Nkhutu primary school block was completed in May and was officially handed over to the local community in a ceremony held on 20th June.

It was with great pleasure that Temwa handed over the school to the local community in Usisya and a whole host of local dignitaries and Government officials were present at the ceremony to officially mark the occasion. The guests of honour included Senior Chief Mbwana, the District Commissioner Mr J Ngulube, and the District Education Manager Mr Moyo. They were joined by the entire Temwa team in Usisya including Programme Manager Tonderai Manoto and Project Manager Nyambe Luhila, as well as all the Nkhutu school pupils and many members of the local community.

The master of ceremony, Temwa's Senior Assistant Project Manager Junior Mlindane, guided everyone through the day's events which included drama and poetry from the Nkhutu school pupils, the signing of the schools guest book, speeches from the guests of honour and a performance by Chiola Dance Group.
