Fundraising Activities

To fund its operations in Malawi, Temwa organises a variety of events in the UK, ranging from club nights to street art exhibitions and pub quizzes to sponsored cycles.

The majority of our regular events are club nights, which have been predominantly held throughout Bristol, in a number of different venues.

Get Involved

You can do your bit by just turning up to an event! Coming down to one of our nights and paying an entrance fee makes a real difference. To receive email alerts about our forthcoming events, sign up for the Temwa newsletter on the home page.

If you would like to run a marathon, walk a certain distance, or cycle a particular route, you can raise sponsorship funds by doing this. You can organise a sponsored event yourself – anything you would like to do! Sponsorship forms are available from This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The Future

Currently we have regular bi-monthly nights on the 2nd Thursday of every month at Native in Bristol, as well as the 3rd Thursday of every month at The Park in Bristol. They are always good nights, with a good crowd and a great atmosphere. Please check the website for details on forthcoming events. Of course all are welcome and as you now know these events help to keep Temwa’s projects in Malawi running.

The Bristol Music Link

The majority of the money needed to start Temwa was raised by the MONSTERPIECE nights, in particular by a band called Babyhead. This initial period was truly inspirational; it was amazing to see a dedicated group of people working totally for free, organising events to raise funds for a charity idea that founders Jo Hook and Sophie Elson had on returning from a trip to Africa. The aim was to start a project to help families affected by the HIV and AIDS epidemic in Malawi. Research was undertaken, whilst fundraising, to decide how best to start the project.
