Temwa receives its largest ever grant from Malawi’s National AIDS Commission.
These funds are to be directed at projects that target those who are at real risk of contracting HIV or who are already living with it. This includes our Integrated Youth, Sexual Reproductive Health and AIDS project, and our AIDS Action Clubs in schools.

Temwa premieres the HIV and Aids awareness drama: 'Mawa Langa'. This was made by PFP in conjunction with Temwa and YONECO. It takes place at Llongwe, Malawi in the presence of the Hon. Dr Lucious Kanyumba, minister for Youth Development and Sports.

Temwa UK takes on three new interns:
Projects Assistant, Abi Jones
Events Coordinator, Kate Popham
Communications Assistant, Dan Yeo
This capable group of staff means that Temwa will be able to multiply its efforts to raise funds and awareness for the projects in Malawi.

All 197 beneficiaries of the Wetlands project are monitored to ensure proper land use and successful implementation of training.

Mark Williams (from the US-based non-profit organisation utu) visits projects in Malawi to oversee a series of joint projects. These include the completion of two classroom blocks that utu had funded.

The school roof in Thoto Msinge is completed thanks to funding from Palmer & Howells.

Beneficiaries of the Wetlands Utilisation project are trained in wetland management and environmental sustainability practices.

Youth groups are mobilised and helped in creating their business plans by Temwa's new Enterprise Development Assistant ready for submission to the government.
16 successful groups will eventually implement various income-generating activities including pig production, beekeeping, poultry production, carpentry/joinery, goat production, cooking oil production, fish farming and fish selling.

Sensitisation meetings in communities begin as part of our activities to facilitate youth development loans. These will help to identify and nurture promising entrepreneurial talent among the youth in Nkhata Bay North.

An Orientation Workshop is held for Field Facilitators. This includes an introduction to Temwa, knowledge and skills to help them implement Temwa's projects, and training on integrated soil fertility management. read more |

Tree seedlings are distributed to individuals and schools as part of the SIFT Community Forestry Project.
So far 1,500 trees have been given to local farmers, four local primary schools and the Usisya Community Secondary School.
The remaining seedlings are to be distributed to schools and individual farmers throughout the Usisya region over the coming months. read more

Temwa purchases a boat, car and upgrades its 4x4 vehicle using funds from a large individual donation received in December. This makes the work of our staff in Malawi much easier and safer. read more
