November Basic agricultural skills, pest control and advanced soil management training sessions take place in the agricultural training centre (formerly known as the demonstration garden).
October A new volunteer, Fleur Doonberg, a Masters student from Holland joins the Malawi team. Fleur is volunteering for Temwa for a period of ten weeks during which time she will carry out a research project into the current use of the library and adult women's literacy.
September Nick Webber Trust (NWT) bursaries are paid for the third term of the 2008 school year to all 16 students that Temwa are sponsoring through secondary school. Read more
August A mobile video session was held in Bula village where we showed our new HIV/AIDS awareness documentary ‘Bantu Ngati Ise' (‘People Like Us'). Read more

New volunteer, Hope Thornton starts a six-month contract as a Programme to design and plan an effective programme framework to address the food and nutritional needs of the people of Usisya.

July Building starts on our second primary school block project in the village of Nkhutu. The school block is due to be finished at the end of 2008.
June The third and final horticulture training session for people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWA). This session concentrated on agri-business. Read more

The Usisya Community Library's first librarian, Harrison Mkolongo, left in June and was replaced by full-time and a part-time librarian, Princess Chimwaza and Hillary Kondoew.

May Temwa begins horticulture and home based care training for people living with HIV/AIDS. These are being funded by UK based organisation, The Jo Franklin Trust. Read more

Budding and grafting of seedlings begins in the ITF funded Usisya Fruit Tree Nursery in preparation for out-planting before the rains in December.

A special screening of Purple Field Productions & Temwa HIV/AIDS awareness film 'Banthu Ngati Ise' (People Like Us) is put on in Mzuzu for other organisations involved in HIV/AIDS related work in Malawi. Attending organisations include Plan, World Vision, NAPHAM and PSI. Over 40 copies of the DVD are distributed to be used in HIV/AIDS awareness programs.


March Purple Field Productions & Temwa HIV/AIDS awareness film 'Banthu Ngati Ise' (People Like Us) gets its premiere Malawi screening in Usisya Community Hall. Read more
