We will only support sustainable and local initiatives, as there is a danger that communities may come to ‘rely' on aid rather than working together to overcome the challenges themselves. It is only by taking ownership, that robust, long term solutions can be put in place and pave the way to a positive future. TEMWA operate in a remote region of Malawi called Usisya, and are the only NGO working there. They are achieving incredible results in the areas of HIV & AIDS education, agriculture and forestry, skills development and schools support. 90p out of every £1 raised in the UK goes directly towards funding projects in Malawi that are making a hugely positive contribution to improving the quality of daily life in the community. We are proud to support TEMWA. They are a local charity (Bristol) and there is a personal link as I spent part of my childhood growing up in Malawi. Sunisle do not only provide financial assistance; individuals in the team participate in fund raising events and are also donating their time to assist Temwa in developing a Corporate fundraising channel as a way of helping to secure their core spending.
We are currently focusing all of our efforts on the ‘Protecting the Next Generation' film project. 5-12 year olds are seen as the window of hope in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Educating and empowering this generation to protect themselves against the virus will inevitably lead to a fundamental reduction in prevalence of the disease...
